The only downside I have with my proposal


is it may place too many top programs in the same division. Even though I am not a fan of many things the SEC does, the SEC may have gotten it right by trying to balance the divisions based on namebrand recognition of each football program. The namebrand recognition also took into consideration the history of each program as well as how each program was perceived in the late 80s/early 90s. I would think the ACC could come up with an even number of Tier 1 schools (the best football programs) as the base for each division. Then from there fill in the remaining spots based on protecting the more important "rivalries" either as divisional games or protected cross-divisional games.

Don't get me wrong I would be fine if the ACC opted to use my proposal or something similar. However, I could see the CCG could quickly turn into a one-sided affair because the Atlantic is a lot more tougher division (perceptually speaking). Also, it could cause casual fans/TV viewers to lose interest in the CCG if the Atlantic has a winning streak that starts to mirror the Commonwealth Cup and a large percentage of their victories were blowouts.
